The British Guild of Travel Writers’ Best Blogger Award was announced at the Savoy on 2nd November 2014.
Abigail King has been awarded the British Guild of Travel Writers’ Best Blogger for her website, Inside the Travel Lab.
This coveted award, along with other Guild Member’s writing and photography prizes, was presented at the British Guild of Travel Writers’ (BGTW) glittering annual dinner held at the Savoy Hotel, London, on November 2, 2014. This important event in the World Travel Market Calendar attracted tourism industry professionals from around the world and was sponsored by the Louisiana Tourist Board and Brand U.S.A.
The Best Blogger Award was sponsored by U.S. Travel Association and IPW (International POW WOW) and is the first time a digital award has been awarded by the Guild.
Praising the standards of the award winners, all of whom are members of the Guild, chairman Mary Moore Mason said: “At a time when specialised travel writing is under threat from economic belt tightening by newspapers and magazines, these awards serve as a reminder of the enormous pool of talent and expertise listed on the Guild’s website and in its annual Yearbook.”
Abigail King was formerly a medical doctor who switched to travel writing and has an outstanding reputation as a blogger. Her award winning website ‘Inside the Travel Lab’ is full of colourful, unique travel stories and presents unique ideas for her many subscribers and readers.
The judges said, “Quality of writing makes me purr with pleasure. Good use of her own photography embedded throughout. Nice photo galleries. Clean, simple and easy to navigate. Good use of social flares to encourage sharing but not intrusive.”
